_____What is ADA service
ADA service is provided for trips when both origin and destination are within ¾ of a mile of an operating fixed bus route and includes areas within Fayette County, Kentucky. For example if a route operates from 6:00 AM 1130 PM, Monday Friday then the paratransit service area is ¾ of a mile around the route from 6:30 AM 1130 PM, Monday Friday ONLY. Any service beyond this is premium service. It is not necessary for the individual to live in the ADA service area to use ADA service. However, for a trip to be eligible for ADA service, both the pick-up and drop-off locations must be within the ADA service area.
___Who is eligible?
ADA Certification Persons with disabilities who are interested in using ADA service must submit an application to determine their eligibility. LexTran’s, designee Cardinal Hill is responsible for determining eligibility for ADA paratransit service in the LexTran service area. Eligibility for ADA certification is based on an individual’s functional ability to access and use fixed route bus service.
_____Eligibility Categories
Unconditional - You’re unable at this time to independently use any fixed route service
Transitional - If your condition is temporary, not permanent or if you're capable of learning to use fixed route services with some training
Conditional - you can use fixed route services sometimes but may require Paratransit services when the combination of your disability and the environment or some other special circumstance creates a barrier to independent use for particular trips
Individuals, who are certified by Cardinal Hill, according to ADA guidelines, are eligible to use LexTran ADA service. Upon completing the application including the doctors portion, please contact Sherry or EMI at (859) 367-7125 to schedule time for an assessment. Please note that some individuals may be found to be “conditionally eligible,” depending on the circumstances of the particular trip. If the customer is found to be ineligible or conditionally eligible, the customer has a right to an appeal. Please contact Sharon Newman at (859) 244-2015 to arrange an appeal hearing.
_____What are the hours of service?
ADA services are provided during all times that LexTran provides fixed route services
