In an aim to reduce air pollution, traffic and parking congestion, and gasoline consumption the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government (LFUCG) established the Lexington Bluegrass Mobility Office. Since 1997 the Lexington Bluegrass Mobility Office has acted as the central point of contact in all inquiries concerning mobility (transportation) issues.

The Mobility Office offers a carpool/vanpool computer ridematching program that includes LexVan, a work commute vanpool leasing program. These services are offered exclusively by the LFUCG and are available to anyone that lives or works in Fayette or any of the 18- county Bluegrass area.
