LEXTRAN's Wheelchair Accessible Bus Service Instructions
These instructions are presented here both to familiarize people with disabilities with our lift service, and to insure that maximum saftey precautions are observed. We feel that you will find this service to be easy if you follow the guidelines set below:
- Arrive up to 15 minutes before the bus arrives.
- After the bus has come to a complete stop, make sure you are at least five feet away as the driver sets up and lowers the wheelchair lift.
- Facing outward from the bus, wheel backward onto the lift platform. The bus driver will assist you.
- Set your wheelchair brake. Your driver will fasten the safety belt and raise the lift's outer barrier before raising the platform to the floor level of the bus.
- When lift is even with the bus floor and no longer in motion, wheel backward off lift and lock into bus' wheelchair-designated space. Enjoy the ride!
- To exit, wait until the bus has stopped completely and wheel to the door of the coach. Your driver will deploy the lift at this time.
- As before, move into position onto the platform, facing outward from the bus. Set your wheelchair brake and your driver will make sure the safety belt is fastened.
- Once the platform is at ground level and your driver has lowered the outer barrier, release the wheelchair brake and wheel forward off the lift.
Please Note: While all of our buses are wheelchair accessible, not all stops are. Get to know your stops. Contact Us for more information.
